This was actually at the end of our trip. Jim and Rita took us to the Museum of Glass in Tacoma. It was very beautiful. This wall had all cut glass. (obviously :) We took this picutre before we heard and read that pictures were not allowed. We conformed to this request but with much saddness. there were so many things we would have loved to take pictures of.
Hannah l oves to take pictures. This is one of her many favorites. I love how she gets different perspectives for us to love. This is of me walking down to the creek to enjoy our time together at a place we all three love very dearly. This time of year is so beautiful with the changing of the colors. We were so grateful to see it and be a part of it and share it with family we love so much.
Hannah and her older brother, Andy :)
Derek's brother, Andy. They sure do love eachother!
Brave Derek feeding the gentle giant, and loving every minute of it. :)
The quite brave Derek, up on the gentle giant. You can see the huge steps we had to climb to get on the horse.
Seriously, Taz is at least 12 feet tall! You can tell from this photo how tall he is.
Hannah was quite brave to feed this huge giant horse. As you can tell she was risking her life (or hand) to feed this giant that could have bit her arm off with one nibble.

This weekend we were able to visit our extended family again. I know I say this a lot but I sure am grateful that we can visit with our family so much. My job sure is a blessing. I want my children to love and cherish their family. We are also very lucky that our extended family loves us so much and treats us so kindly. We always know that we are welcome and are wanted.
The first night we got there we were lucky enough to be invited to a Native American Indian Pow Wow. Jim and Rita know an elderly woman in their ward who belongs to one of the tribes. She invited us to go with her. It was very colorful and loud and beautiful. There were many who had their native dress on and the children loved to see different cultures. I am grateful that in our travels we have been able to see different cultures right here in the United States. (Especially when we went to New York).
Jim was so kind and wanted all of us to experience Native American Indian fry bread. He bought some for all of us. It was quite delicious.
Andy, our Chinese friend came for the weekend and the kids were SO excited to see him. While we were there I got a small notebook and had him tell me several different phrases and words in Mandarin Chinese so we could practice our Chinese. Hannah is taking Chinese in school. Derek and I want to learn also.
The next day we were able to share with Grandma Rita and her daughter, Lisa. She has two retired race horses. Their names are Taz and Martini. We were able to meet Taz. He was very beautiful. And VERY tall!!! It was an amazing to see such a beautiful majestic animal. He seemed a bit scary at first. We were a bit apprehensive at first. But like most animals/humans that are big, he knew his size and was very much a gentleman.
I ended up letting Lisa lead me around. Lisa had us all wear a helmet. We had to climb up three large steps to even attempt to get onto the horse. You sure could tell that he used to race. We ended up having us all ride the horse and loving it. We also were able to feed the horse by hand.
As you can tell (and as I have mentioned many times), the kids and I love family traditions. One that Derek loves a lot is having a hot dog roast down at the pond at Grandma and Grandpa's yard. He also LOVES to cook s'mores. He cooked one for everyone. We all sure did love our s'mores!
